Julie Roberts is an exceptionally talented singer, song-writer and music teacher from Stoke-on-Trent, who has delighted audiences over a successful career spanning two decades.
A chance decision to recreate the unique sound of the late, great musical icon, Karen Carpenter, served to change her life forever.
Julie didn’t just emulate Karen Carpenter – she BECAME the troubled female half of the brother and sister duo, The Carpenters, who rocketed on to the pop scene of the 1970s.
Audiences were stunned by Julie’s effortless ability to replicate the sound of Karen Carpenter and also intrigued by the way she dressed and managed to adopt the look of the American star.
She even displayed the mannerisms and gestures of the singer who tragically died following a heart attack on 4 February 1983 aged 32.
The Karen Carpenter effect even had an impact on Julie’s private life off- stage.
She dreamed about Karen and experienced visions as she felt her presence.
Julie eventually began to suffer the symptoms of anorexia, the condition that would ultimately rob Karen of her life.
“I was touched by the spirit of Karen Carpenter” says Julie, who comes from a spiritual background. “It took me five years to fight back to health but I was strong enough to regain control of my life and now teach yoga to retain my fitness.”
Julie Roberts is more than a tribute artiste.
In addition to performing many of the best loved songs recorded by Karen Carpenter, Julie has also written and recorded a number of songs in the style of Karen.
In her career as a solo artiste, Julie has also provided keyboard and vocal backing for a variety of bands and demonstrated her huge vocal range with songs from Abba, Shania Twain, The Corrs, Britney Spears and many others.
In her musical career to date, Julie has auditioned for “Stars In Their Eyes”,
“ Britains Got Talent” and “ The X Factor” and regularly has performed in a wide range of local venues.
When she is not performing, Julie runs her own music school, Perfect Pitch helping other aspiring local musicians to attain their personal goals.

Ian started playing from around age 7 and played the saxophone and violin.
He enjoys playing the keyboard and having fun. Originally it was a Hammond organ that he played.
After a break, Ian met Julie at a business network meeting. In his capacity as a business coach he got to know Julie and what she did. This has now rekindled his passion for music.
He has now converted a hobby of many years into public performances at charity events and dinner dances.
Ian grew up in Staffordshire and spent a lot of his childhood helping out in his parents businesses. Being around very hard working, motivated and positive thinking people has always given him the desire to achieve great results.
With his great experience in Sales, Marketing and General Management he has the unique ability to identify opportunities for improvement and to develop action plans designed to deliver results.
Ian has a very simple mission statement “Inspiring and empowering my clients to surpass their personal and business goals whilst having fun”.
These qualities alone qualify Ian to be part of the relaunch of Julie’s career but life is full of surprises. Ian is a pupil of Julie who has been passing on her keyboard skills to such good effect that he recently made his public debut at a charity concert, to great acclaim.
